I.                   Current and Past Activities

 

Degree programs

§         Masters of Computer Science (MSE)

§         An ongoing initiative – Center for Professional Development at ASU (proposed by ACIMS)

§         Bachelors Degree

§         A new proposal for creating undergraduate engineering degree in Modeling and Simulation – ASU East Campus (proposal by Chell Roberts)

 

Publication

§         Fishwick, Paul – Dynamic Modeling CDROM, (Lead: S. Branch)

§         Klee, Harold (and others under consideration) – text book publication (Lead: H. Szczerbicka)

§         DMSO, Foundations `02 – Verification & Validation Foundation CDROM, (Lead: S. Branch)

 

Professional Development

§         M&SPCC: As part of the Implementation Group, developed a set of questions and answers for the General Section of the Online Certification exam

 

II.                Planned Activities for 2003/4

 

Degree programs

§         In the first half of 2003-4, complete and announce MSE program in Modeling and Simulation

§         Support development of M&S Body of Knowledge (SimSummit)

 

Publication

§         Support VP publication in dissemination of

§         Two articles for the Modeling and Simulation Magazine on the council members activities

§         Support development of M&S Body of Knowledge (SimSummit)

 

Professional Development

§         Create a model of cooperative enrichment between the Certification programs and university programs offering M&S degrees (BS, MS, and PhD) or concentration/specialization

§         Further develop SCS’s synergistic Educational and Training Landscape and collaborations with others including M&SPCC, MSIAC, SISO, and existing centers such as ACIMS, IST, MSREC, MOVES, and VMASC

§         Support development of M&S Body of Knowledge (SimSummit)

 

Council will continue to help strengthening the relationships among professional development, publication, and degree programs.  The council will continue to develop to benefit and contribute to various arms of the SCS in general and Publications and Conferences in particular.
